Inquiry Day - How our brains work and growth mindset.

Today we spent our whole day looking into our inquiry. 

How do we learn? Or learning how to learn.

With this inquiry we are trying to grow our brains and help us become better learners, so we can learn whatever we want to. 

Here are some of the video's we looked at today. 

This is Ned the neuron, in the video he helps explain how our brain works. One key point in this video is that challenges help our brains grow.  

We also started some Neuron artwork that we will put on the blog at a later date.

Below are the Growth Mindset videos we looked at. For these videos we completed a think chart to help us focus our thinking. After each video, everyone had to fill in the chart. We had to write down some things they will start doing, stop doing and keep doing.  

We also had to pick out any Learning Powers we saw.

Putting it all together

At the end of the day we asked. So what? 

So what are we going to do with this information? What are we going to start doing to help us become an awesome learner?

Learning Powers!

These are our key learning powers to help us become life-long learners (learning superheroes). There are seven of them. 

Can you tell your parents what each one means? 

Can you tell your parents why we have the animals to go with each one?

These are some tools we came up with that we can use if we get stuck. We worked out that we could use the Changing and Learning power to help us. We just need to change something to help us get unstuck.

Todays Team Challenge - Can you work it out?

Today we had a challenge to make this out of 1 piece of paper, using a pair of scissors, in 10 minutes, can you do it?

Thinking Crews - Mystery Items

Today in our newly formed thinking crews we tried to work out what these mystery items were used for. There are also some new ones we didn't get to look at today. Have a look at the pictures below, do some research and see if you can find out what they are.
